General Settings Tab of the Setting Dialog contains the following groups of parameters:
- Enabled (True or False). Specifies whether the automatic fading is enabled or not. Disk Space Analyzer can use fading as a way of reducing visual data overload, when displaying big graphs. If automatic fading is enabled, only selected elements will be displayed normally and all elements not included in the selection will be faded.
- Depth of Field (integer number). Diagram elements are faded differently depending on the distance from the nearest selected element. Depth of Field is the distance from the nearest selected element at which diagram elements are faded to the maximum extent specified be the Max Fading parameter.
- Max Fading (0..100). 0 means no fading and 100 means completely transparent.
- Show Path (True or False) specifies whether the elements from a selected element to the root are alway shown unfaded or not.
- Show Subtree (True or False) specifies whether the elements in a selected element subtree are always unfaded or not.
- Angle (15°, 45° or 90°) is an angle to which a diagram is rotated when Rotate Clockwise or Rotate Anticlockwise command is executed.
- Max Depth is a maximum depth of a directory structure allowed to be shown in the Disk Pane.
- Max Width is a maximum width of a directory structure. Where by width we denote the maximum number of subfolders displayed in a diagram.
- Max Size Threshold is a maximum size threshold that can be used in the Disk Pane.
- Truncate Long Names. Specifies the maximum length of a folder name that will be displayed in the Disk Pane without truncation. To disable long name truncation set this parameter to 0.
- Show Total Size (True or False). Specifies whether the total size of each folder (including all its subfolders) will be displayed in the Disk Pane or not.
- Show Files Size (True or False). Specifies whether the files size and count will be displayed in the Disk Pane or not.
- Show Subfolders Size (True or False). Specifies whether the subfolders size will be displayed in the Disk Pane or not.
- Show Files (True or False). Specifies whether files will be shown in the contents pane or not.
- Show Subfolders (True or False). Specifies whether subfolders will be shown in the contents pane or not.
- Show System Files/Folders (True or False). Specifies whether system files and folders will be shown in the contents pane or not.

- Show Temporary Files/Folders (True or False). Specifies whether temporary files and folders will be shown in the contents pane or not.
- Initial Scan Depth (positive integer number). Specifies the depth of the initial scan performed at the first start of Disk Space Analyzer or when a new disk is discovered. The default value is 2. The Analyzer can be forced to perform initial scan by specifying -rescan command line option.
- Max Length (>=100). Maximum number of lines in the run log before it is dumped into a disk file.
- Log File Location. Full path to the folder where the log files will be stored if they grow bigger than Max Length.
